Lars Samuelson, Founder and Chief Scientific Officer
Professor of Semiconductor Electronics/Solid State Physics at Lund University. Ph.D. in Physics, Lund University, in 1977. Post-doc at IBM Research in San José 1977-1978. Professor at Chalmers (1986) and at Lund University (1988) Director of the Nanometer Structure Consortium from its start in 1988. Internationally recognized for his research on low-dimensional semiconductors, such as nanowires, and for the physics and applications made possible by these structures, His research on Semiconductor Nanowires was in 2006 selected as one of the top ten research environments for all areas of science in Sweden. Appointed Fellow of the Institute of Physics in the UK (2004). Member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences (Physics) (2006) and Engineering Sciences (2007). Awarded the “Einstein Professorship” by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (2008) Appointed Fellow of the American Physical Society (Materials Physics) (2009) Awarded the IDEON Prize for Innovation (2011) Awarded the IUVSTA Prize for Science (2013) for the period 2010-2013.

(a Logitech company), a manufacturer of human interface devices. From 1998-2002 served as Vice President and CFO of Silicon Motion Inc., a fabless graphics IC company focused on mobile devices. Prior to Silicon Motion, served in various financial management positions over the course of fifteen years at Quantum Corporation, a manufacturer of hard disk drives, including positions as Director of Finance and Corporate Controller. Over thirty years of experience in technology markets in both private and public companies. B.S. degree in Commerce and Finance and an M.B.A. with honors from Santa Clara University. Also serves as a Board Advisor for ALearn, a non-profit organization committed to helping underrepresented students get to and succeed in college.
